Food for Thought

The television scene here in HK is so boring these days that there must be a zillion shows about food and travel showing everyday. Can't the producers come up with something more creative than food & travel shows? Which part of the world have they not been to yet?

I certainly miss the old days in the 80s where variety shows were platforms where potential stars were given chances to shine. Now, all you get to see are pretty faces reciting scripted comments and making jokes that aren't funny. I don't know whether I am supposed to laugh with them or laugh at them.

Anyhow...

I watched "Revolutionary Road" last weekend, and to be honest, it was not the movie I expected it to be (at least not for a Valentine's Day weekend). Undoubtedly, Kate Winslet gave a award-winning performance, but the movie itself was under-whelming. Maybe it's because I am not a fan of those type of movies, but the storyline was just too 'real' for my liking. Adding to it was the fact that seeing Kate and Leo on screen reminded me of another 3-hr (horrible) epic called Titanic. If only the foreign audience can understand Cantonese - otherwise I'd send them tapes of old black & white versions of HK TV dramas because the plot lines are exactly the same.

When is 'Confessions of a Shopaholic" showing again? That certainly seems more entertaining to me.
